Jeesun Choi is a transnational Korean playwright, librettist, and physical theatre artist.
Her plays move through diaspora, (im)migration, and transnationalism to reveal the joy and agony of the human condition. She is the 2023 Jerome Hill Artist Fellow and recipient of NYC Women’s Fund for Media, Music and Theatre. Full-length plays include BUST, To the Ends of the Earth / 땅끝까지, Lost Coast, and The Seekers. Her work has been presented and developed at Soho Rep, New York Theatre Workshop, Playwrights Realm, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Bushwick Starr, JACK, American Opera Project, Prelude Festival, Nashville Rep, Bay Area Playwrights Festival, Red Eye Theater, and more. She has been awarded Artist of Exceptional Merit by Asian American Arts Alliance and received residencies from MacDowell, Governor’s Island, and University Settlement. She is currently a Usual Suspect at New York Theatre Workshop, affiliated artist at New Georges, and member of Dramatist Guild of America.
